About PARC
History
PARC was founded in 1936. (Volunteer needed to write the rest of this history!)
Membership
As of October 2008, PARC has 361 members, mostly in San Diego county, concentrated in north county where the repeater coverage is best. All radio amateurs are invited to join the club.
Club Activities
Monthly meeting
The first Wednesday of every month at the Carlsbad Safety Center in Carlsbad. The location can change from time to time, so watch the web site or Scope and listen to 146.730 MHz for the latest. Show up around 7:00PM for chat. The meeting starts at 7:30PM. We keep the "business" to an absolute minimum, to leave more time for the scheduled program, and we try to be done by 9:00PM.
There's always coffee, goodies to eat (bring something for the goodies table if you can), and a "for sale" table. You can join or renew and buy club hats and name badges at the meeting.
Talk-in on the 146.73 MHz repeater. Some club members get together for dinner before the meeting.
To receive an email reminder about each meeting, subscribe to the Meeting-Remind mailing list.
Show and Tell
PARC welcomes members to bring items to the meetings for a "show and tell". These items could be projects in progress or completed old and/or restored equipment, short items of interest, or unusual items, and happens 5-10 minutes prior to the evening's presentation. Let the Vice President know (in advance, if possible) so your item can be fit into the meeting schedule.
Monthly Board of Directors meeting
Club members are welcome to attend the Board meeting, usually on the second Wednesday at a Board member's home. See the Scope for schedule and location.

Classes are held occasionally but not on any regular schedule. Watch the calendar on the main page for specific announcements.
Newsletter
The club's monthly newsletter, Scope, is available online or by email, and is printed on old-fashioned paper and mailed to members who don't opt for electronic delivery. See the Scope page for more.
Do you have a story about a recent exciting contact? Contest? Special event station worked? Funny story? Know of a San Diego area amateur radio group that is worth mentioning? Send it in to the SCOPE!
Brochure
Download the current club flyer (PDF, 150K). This is intended to be printed on both sides of a single sheet of letter-size paper, and tri-folded to make a nice handout. Revised 8/2003 by W6MBM, membership dues changed 1/2008.

Field Day
PARC usually fields a major effort for ARRL Field Day, the fourth full weekend of June each year. Lately we have been winning the 4F or 5F category, using four or five simultaneous transmitters (plus some bonus transmitters) from the site of an Emergency Operations Center. Food, fun, and a chance to Get On The Air for new or inactive hams!

Work Parties
When work needs to be done, usually at the repeater site on Palomar Mountain, volunteers are recruited to get the job done.
See the photos page for photos and video reports on recent work parties.
